1998. Out of the ashes of a previous band singer Henri and songwriter Michiel, together with singer Cathelijne, formed Promised Grief. Quickly afterwards they released their first EP, 'Sculptures of Dramatic Art'. Half an hour of goth laden blackend doom. Despite good reviews and good intentions, the band was quickly afterwards put on hold.

2017. Almost 20 years later, Michiel picked up the pieces again and started writing some new doom. Not much later joined by Bono, who shared the stage for many years in Death Metal band Cremation. For unfortunate reasons it took until spring of 2020 to release new music as Ascension saw the light.
